Shopping Trip of Destiny
The shopping gods smiled upon Gwen yesterday.
We went to the mall to get her a jogging shirt; we ended up in Banana Republic. Gwen found a cute white summer shirt to supplement another white summer shirt she wears multiple times a week. I think she spends more time with it than with me. However, that shirt is wearing out, so she’s been on the look out for another one. She found it last night at BR.
Her husband thought we should wait to see if it went on sale.
That’s when fate intervened. Gwen was destined to own that shirt.
First, while Gwen was modeling the shirt and trying to convince me it was worth the price, another woman approached to ask where she had found it. But Gwen was wearing the last one. The woman was obviously quite disappointed and continued to gush about how cute it was. I still wasn’t convinced.
Gwen then went into the dressing room where another woman (or possibly the same woman; she really liked that shirt) complimented Gwen. She too gushed about it and mentioned that she would buy it if Gwen wasn’t going to. Gwen got possessive at this point; she wasn’t going to let such a great shirt go. She came out of the dressing room determined to convinced me. I relented. I wanted to avoid the fight that would break out between the other two women if she didn’t get it. I took their reactions as a sign, but the shopping gods gave me one more.
The cashier absolutely raved about the shirt. She told Gwen it was the perfect summer shirt, that she was so excited for her to wear it, that she wished she had bought one for her self, etc., etc., and on and on. Either she really loved that shirt, is in tune with the shopping gods, or is a fabulous saleswoman. (I favor the latter explanation.)
I had received enough witnesses. I was convinced. The shirt is awesome and probably worth two times what it cost! The women in that Banana Republic store had convinced me of that. In fact, the shirt is so popular I can’t even find it on BR’s website to post a picture to go along with this post. It must be sold out.
Gwen is happy with her shirt. I’m happy that she’s happy. And I’m going to avoid BR in case she has another shopping trip of destiny coming.

Well you better take a picture of your cute wife in THE shirt cause I’m sitting here wondering about this fabulous white shirt!
